Cookie Policy

Last updated: September 2026

In short: Recommendor uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in to the dashboard, and stores that install Recommendor use similar technologies on their storefront to serve recommendations and search, recover carts, and honor Do Not Track. We don't use cookies for third-party ad targeting.

1. What this policy covers

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage and pixel trackers) used by the Recommendor dashboard, and by the Recommendor scripts a store installs on its storefront. If you're a shopper on a store using Recommendor, the store's own cookie notice also applies to your visit.

2. Cookies used by the Recommendor dashboard

  • Session and authentication — keep you signed in to your dashboard account.
  • Preferences — remember dashboard settings such as language and selected store.
  • Security — help detect and prevent fraudulent sign-in attempts.

These are necessary for the dashboard to function and can't be switched off while you're signed in.

3. Technologies used on a connected storefront

When a store enables Recommendor features, the following technologies may run on that store's storefront, subject to the store's own cookie banner and consent choices:

  • Recommendation and search — an identifier that groups a shopper's activity within a visit, used to serve and rank recommendation blocks and search results, and to attribute a sale to the block or search term that drove it.
  • Abandoned cart and alerts — a reference to the shopper's cart or alert request, used to rebuild it from a recovery email link.
  • Session recording — where a store has enabled session recording, a short-lived identifier links a recording to a single visit. Recording always masks password and payment fields, excludes staff sessions, and is skipped entirely for visitors sending a Do Not Track signal, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Email engagement — a tracking pixel and link parameters in recovery, alert, and win-back emails, used to record whether an email was opened or clicked.

4. What we don't do

Recommendor doesn't use cookies to build cross-site advertising profiles, and doesn't sell cookie or tracking data to third parties.

5. Managing cookies

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and most browsers let you block cookies from specific sites or all sites. If you're a shopper, the store you're visiting is responsible for its own cookie banner and consent controls for Recommendor's storefront features; if you're a store owner configuring Recommendor, see your dashboard settings for controls over which features (such as session recording) are enabled on your storefront.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the cookies and technologies Recommendor uses change. Material changes will be announced through the dashboard or by email before they take effect.
